Art Basel is incredible, but a lesser-known event is Dachshundfest! Every January, Lummus Park is taken over by about 500 dachshunds and their human companions. I bring my two boys.

I get the fried oysters at Joes. Start with a chopped salad and make your way to the main event: the stone crab claws with creamed spinach and hash browns. Order key lime pie for dessert. Its tradition!

Taschen is a unique bookstore on Lincoln Road. You wont find bestsellers here. Hours can be spent perusing the gorgeous volumes, which are works of art in themselves.
