ONE Sothebys International Realty Sponsors National YoungArts Foundation

The partnership plans exciting cultural events for Art Basel and beyond.

Given the amount of tony cultural events this month, it may as well be Art Basel Miami Beach already. ONE Sothebys International Realty got into the spirit even earlier this year by becoming a YoungArts strategic corporate sponsor. The partnership opens doors for the National YoungArts Foundation to connect its programming with the Miami community and beyond, such as an exhibit for regional winners of YoungArts New York 2016 at Sothebys auction house in Manhattan in spring.

Part of YoungArts mission is to provide opportunities for young artists to present their work to an educated and engaged audience, said John Clark, its vice president of development. The partnership greatly enhances those exhibition opportunitiesexhibits that also enrich our audiences and supporters.

ONE Sothebys International Realty is also the presenting sponsor for a breakfast and private tour of the exhibit When We Were Young in the YoungArts gallery at its Miami headquarters on December 1 during Art Basel. The group show features masterworks by Jasper Johns, Robert Indiana and Josef Albers, among others, from the early years of the JPMorgan Chase Art Collection. Many have never been on public view.

JPMorgan Chase is a long-time supporter of YoungArts, and this highly valued presenting sponsorship of one of our exhibits during Miami art week is a first for them.We are honored to be chosen as the site where they will display some of their most treasured pieces in their private collection, said Clark.

But in a twist that defines the foundation, they will be paired with new works commissioned from YoungArts Visual Arts alumni who were inspired by them. Naomi Fisher, a YoungArts master teacher and accomplished curator and artist in her own right, selected the participating alumni artists including Laini Nemett, Cara Levine, and Annie Blazejack.

The tour continues in the adjacent YoungArts Jewel Box for Roots, a site-specific installation by Jos Parl, which was commissioned by Rolls-Motor Cars North America and curated by Savannah College of Art and Design.

In the meantime, check out these YoungArts happenings in November.

Outside the Box, a free, outdoor series open to the public, kicks off with premieres for five short films by alumni on November 5. Themes explore identity, injustice and change. The works are part of Transformations, YoungArts inaugural initiative to commission works by alumni representing a range of mediums.

YoungArts collaborates with the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami to host ICA Performs: Michael Clark Company. Five public performances begin November 17 in the YoungArts Jewel Box. The acclaimed British dance troupe is presenting a new work inspired by the tropical locale. Its namesake founder gives a talk on November 9 at Teds at YoungArts as part of the foundations Salon Series.
