A family of clever entrepreneurs decided to go to the dogs, literally. Since Miami is in the midst of a wellness revolution, they thought why not create healthier fare for Fido? After beginning as a cottage industry, Dishes for Dogs, nutritious prepared meals made from whole foods, opened a brick-and-mortar location in Wynwood. Michael ORourke and his parents, Wanda and Dan, collaborated with veterinarian Dr. Justin Shmalberg to develop tasty, USDA-certified recipes packed with nutrients. Customers can watch the team whip up small batches of dog food in the open kitchen. Signature combos such as herb-roasted turkey with sweet potato, lamb with millet and venison with squash come in four sizes ranging from 8 oz. to 5 lbs. Treats like beef liver brittle are also available.

Ready for the seasons parade of glamorous galas? November brings several good reasons to don black-tie. John Legend (pictured) fans will be treated to a concert by the Grammy award-winning r & b star at the 22nd Annual InterContinental Miami Make-A-Wish Ball at the bayside hotel on November 12. Alisan Porter, winner of The Voice on NBC, also performs. This years theme, La Nuit de lAnimal: A Fairy Tale, should bring out a lot of animal prints. Since its inception, this event alone has raised more than $19 million to grant wishes to nearly 4,000 children with life-threatening medical conditions. One hundred years ago, James Deering celebrated the completion of his beloved Vizcaya estate and gardens with a grand soire. Channel the splendor at the Vizcaya Centennial Gala on November 19.

Interior designer Magita Rojas launched Plume home dcor studio and boutique with her daughter, Susana Cisneros, in Coral Gables. She named the store after the downy feather filling in throw and floor pillows, her favorite fetish. Find a large variety sourced globally from Africa to Turkey. But pillows arent their only passion. They also stock table lamps and wallpapers, both of which arent found in huge quantities locally to the frustration of the design community. DIY home decorators can have everything at their fingertips, too, without hiring a professional (though Rojas offers consultations for residential and commercial properties). Other objects are rosaries of semi-precious stones and Swarovski crystals from Guatemala as tabletop jewelry, and acrylic dreamcatchers from Miami interior designer Gabriela Noel Gonzalezs collection, By Flower Child.

Its $100-million makeover includes new hip food and beverage outlets by celebrity chefs to the delight of South Florida foodies. Following the launch of Diplomat Prime steakhouse, the culinary team tried to keep whats to come a secretwithout luck. Here are just a few of the talents on deck. Philadelphias Michael Schulson who became a star for his edamame dumplings, pictured, expands south with Monkitail. The izakaya will serve sushi and robatayaki as well to fuel late-night karaoke sessions. Geoffrey Zakarians Point Royal focuses on seafood and raw bar with the largest wine list onsite, while his Counter Point specializes in coffee, fresh juices and light fare. At Sue Torress poolside Playa, Nuevo Latino cuisine highlights tacos and tequila.
