Arabian Nights

South Beachs iconic night life has a new haunt. Byblos, the delicious Mediterranean import from Toronto, expands with a 2,300-square-foot lounge on June 2. Velvet seating surrounds the statement bars silver and gold mirror fashioned into a snazzy zigzag pattern. Natural, wide-plank oak floors and geometric textiles link to the dining rooms seaside design.

The idea is to transport guests atop their ottomans to an exotic localea perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Collins Avenue. The adventurous mood extends to cocktail service performed as a traditional Middle Eastern tea ritual. Sip spiked teas and the signature gulab cocktail with rose-infused vodka, pomegranate and cardamom, while nibbling on canaps like labneh and beets and spiced kibbeh made with duck rather than traditional beef or lamb.

By now, you may have heard of Faena Theaters pop-up performances. Its a rare opportunity to see major stars from singers like Grace Potter to principal ballet dancers such as Benjamin Millepied in an intimate, 150-seat setting. On May 27, r & b hitmaker Miguel (All I Want Is You, Adorn), pictured, takes the stage as part of Faena Lives spring concert series.

Cest Rouge, a retro cabaret with jazz horns, tap dancers and Latin flair, kicks off weekly shows every Friday and Saturday on June 4; its Spanish choreographer Blanca Li has quite the resume. After studying with Martha Graham and Alvin Ailey, she founded her namesake contemporary dance company with commissions from the Paris Opera to Kanye West to Target. Fed Head

Fans of the Federal are happy to have their neighborhood eatery back, with a new name and direction to boot. After closing briefly to revamp their rich menu, founding couple Cesar Zapata and Ani Meinhold reopened as The Fed with healthier dishes like cilantro edamame hummus and salmon poke. They address fast casual dinings obsession with carb-less bowls through build-your-own salads with proteins and other tasty toppings.

Hailing from the Lone Star State, Zapata also used the time to create new recipes: custom fajitas, corn tostadas (go for the Gulf-sourced seafood) and tortas (burgers and grilled cheese with a twist). To make it feel more welcoming, especially for solo diners, they installed flat-screen TVs and extended the bar. The refurbished dcors sunset colors and neon accents pay homage to Miami Vice.
