Brickell City Centre was opened to exclusive members of the international art and design communities during Art Basel 2015, showcasing the propertys unfinished form and some of the incredible art pieces installed at the project. The VIP evening included an intimate art and design dialogue with pop artist Allen Jones, designer Hugh Dutton, architect Bernardo Fort-Brescia and Swire Incs art consultant Alison Pickett. The discussion was followed by a cocktail celebration for more than 400 guests, featuring the vinyl-only garage sounds of Wooden Wisdom, the underground celebrity DJ duo of Elijah Wood and Zach Cowie.
The CLIMATE RIBBON was illuminated for the first time at the event. A $30 million installation combining art and science, the CLIMATE RIBBONis a sculptural trellis made of steel, fabric and glass that connects all three blocks of Brickell City Centre by spanning 150,000 square feet. Four years ago I was honored and flattered when Steve Owens and Bernardo Fort- Brescia invited me to join them in the realization of the CLIMATE RIBBON. I am particularly pleased that the public unveiling of this project coincides with Art Basel because I consider our work to be a synthesis of art and science, said Hugh Dutton.
