Zaha Hadids first project in the western hemisphere, One Thousand Museum has begun its two-year vertical building phase. In this recently released drone video key members of the One Thousand Museum team speak about the future of the project and what it will bring to Miami. The drone captured stunning video of the mat foundation pour that used 10,000 cubic yards of concrete.
It took 24 hours of continuous pouring and approximately 1000 trucks to complete the foundation. This was one of the top 5 foundations ever poured by Desimone Consulting Engineers. The mat foundation supports the tower proper. At 709 feet the tower is not the tallest in Miami, but it is one of the most complex. This unique tower by Zaha Hadid has vertical columns on the outside, and the architect worked closely with consultants so One Thousand Museum would meet Floridas hurricane code without losing its design.
