This powerhouse team heads up their Swiss architecture firm based in Basel. Founders and Senior partners Jacques Herxog and Pierre de Meuron both launched into the world of architecture after studying at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. They then went on to spearhead the project which launched them into the starchitectural spotlight - the conversion of the giant Bankside Power Station in London to the current home of the Tate Modern. Their careers have gifted several honors; from appointment as visiting professions at Harvard University Graduate School of Design to being recipients of the Pritzker Prize, the highest award in architecture.

Their work towered above contemporaries with the use of unique exterior materials and treatments. Starting in 2010, the duo and their firm expanded into Miami to produce community shaping buildings. 1111 Lincoln Road hit South Beach in 2010 and revolutionized the traditional use case for parking lots. The multi floored, open air property with no exterior walls was characterized by the creators as their most radical work.

2013 brought another new addition to their Miami portfolio, with the launch of the Perez Art Museum Miami in the downtown area where so much current and future building is planned. PAMM will ultimately be joined by Zaha Hadids building 1000 Museum, to create a vibrant community rich in culture and architectural significance. We cant wait to see what this pair has in store for South Florida next! Continue following this architect spotlight on our blog and find all new developments on the ONE SIR website.
