Architectural Spotlight on Enrique Norten

  • Posted

The very prolific and highly regarded architect Enrique Norten is hard at work in the Miami-Dade area of late. Born in Mexico City, he has made quite an impact on the architectural world. The principle of the design firm TEN Arquitectos is also a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA).

In early 2008, Enrique Norten was presented by Boston Consulting Groups PODER division with the Excellence in Architecture and Design Award as well as the Legacy Award gifted by the Smithsonian Institute for contributions to US arts and culture. His efforts were noticed globally as well, as the recipient of the World Cultural Councils Leonardo da Vinci World Award in 2005. The Miami community has seen a boom in his works in our county lines in the past few years.

His project at One Ocean broke ground last summer. The partnership with Related Group CEO Jorge Perez is aiming to construct a curvy tower with a major breezeway through the property. It will include gardens by Enzo Enea & public park, a sunny pool deck, massive units, and ocean views despite not being exactly on the water.

More recently, his designs for 321 Ocean Drive added to the southern point of Miami Beach with a rectilinear style just blocks from the rounded One Ocean. His work in Miami will surely add cache to his current portfolio from projects along the recovering stretch of the New Orleans riverfront, to work inside the Guggenheim Museum, an Aquarium in Mexico City, and a new vision for Rutgers Universitys College Ave. For more Miami development watch, check out our ongoing coverage of new developments.
