Architectural Spotlight on Foster + Partners

When Alan Faena decided to launch one of the most ambitious real estate and architectural projects in Miami, he had a very specific goal to develop a high-end cultural district along Miamis waterfront with the best minds in the industry. Faena Miami Beach includes an arts centre by OMA, a beachside condominium tower by architecture firm Foster + Partners, and a restoration of the landmark Saxony Hotel by husband-and-wife team Luhrmann and Martin. Faena Miami Beach will stretch six blocks along Collins Avenue, between 32 Street and 37 Street, and extend from the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian Creek waterway.

The masterminds behind the condo will include a group effort between Lord Foster and OMA with Raymond Jungles. They will work on the development of the high-end cultural district in Miamis waterfront area. The world class Foster + Partners architectural team drew upon successes of past projects like the British Museums Great Court & Berlins Historic Reischstag to concept the Miami building around beach living needs and outdoor space.

The spectacular setting on the widest stretch of sand can be enjoyed on the developments expansive terraces in the sky which are the heart of each unit. Those all-glass verandas also posed a design challenge as they expose the units to the unique South Florida climate factors, particularly strong winds. Architects had to employ a curvy, aerodynamic design which conjured a 1940s Art Deco vibe.

The aerodynamic design also served to move the air safely. The goal was to rigorously consider every detail, and each custom feature and system dreamed up by Foster + Partners has achieved just that. Read more about ONE SIR exclusive developments and more on our website.
