In early December 2013, Miamis Terra Group has announced that it had broken ground on Glass. The 18-story condominium tower is represented exclusively by One Sothebys International and it immediately sold seven of the 10 full-floor residences. A major draw for buyers was the fact that the tower was concepted by renowned Miami architect Rene Gonzalez. The demand for his first condominium was compounded by the fact that Glass will be the last high rise built in Miami Beachs South of Fifth neighborhood due to zoning restrictions.
Buyers will also get to work one-on-one with the architect to customize the interiors. Gonzalez is used to the buzz - one of his best known projects was the most expensive home ever sold in Miami-Dade, going for $47 million. He has a strong history of success with his inspiration for design coming directly from the Miami scenery and an intuitive understanding of not just art, but how people live.
However, his works are on not confined to Miami, he has worked with wealthy clients from the Hamptons to the Middle East. His background is also a style influencer, the Cuban-born Gonzalez studied architecture at UCLA and began his career out West. His industry mentors include Richard Meier who connects his buildings with surrounding landscapes in interesting ways and John Lautner who sticks with space-age looking designs.
Gonzalez is an artist who is ever aware of the needs of the buyers - a quality that made Glass such an instant classic. His goal is to strike that balance between being unique while not being overly esoteric. We look forward to seeing the progress continue on our Miami Beach Glass project.
