One Sothebys International is representing sales for one of Miami Beachs newest developments: GLASS.GLASS is an 18-story building at 120 Ocean Drive that will feature 360 degree views of the Atlantic, the island and Biscayne Bay through 10 exclusive units. Miami-based architect Rene Gonzalez created the modernist design based on ideas of gradation from shore to sky.
Think of putting toes in the sand, feeling the beach and reaching up to sweeping blue skies and clouds. The design concepts start with shore and reach up to water and vapour. Sleek and trim lined, GLASS will be a new style of architecture among the older, traditional art deco styles on historic Ocean Drive.
Miami may not have mountains, but those who live in high-rises here do enjoy breathtaking sky views. And those who are near the ocean get the best of both worlds -- in all different reflective shades of blue -- from water to sky. Located in the South of Fifth neighborhood (also known as SoFi), GLASS will offer luxury living in one of Miami Beachs most dynamic areas.
GLASS is surrounded by upscale restaurants --including world famous Joes Stone Crabs --as well as boutiques, salons, wine shops and local hangouts. The building will be a stones throw from Marjory Stoneman Douglas Park and South Pointe Park, the islands most scenic public promenade, which offers ample strolling from the Atlantic through Miami Beach Marina on a beautifully paved waterfront walk. Schools and places of worship are all nearby.
GLASS Design Collaboration
Rene Gonzalez is no stranger to designing architectural landmarks on Miami Beach and surrounding neighborhoods. The architect was also involved in design the Alchemist stores inside the iconic 1111 Lincoln Road parking structure. This structure features retail, event and condominium space the exterior structure that originally came from the minds of Herzog and DeMeuron in Switzerland.
Alchemist stores feature high-end fashion, gallery-like spaces and sell rare collectibles. The ground-level space also includes a bench installation by Zaha Hadid, the architect designing Miamis One Thousand Museum Tower on Biscayne Boulevard, just across the bay, further west. Lincoln Road, however, is Miami Beachs famous pedestrian mall and is located only a few blocks from GLASS.
Rene Gonzalez also designed 3 Indian Creek, a $47 million property sold by ONE SIR buyer representative Inga Boutbol in 2012. This property is located further north near the prestigious and exclusive Indian Creek area. The architect is also behind CIFO, an art space in Miamis warehouse district.
CIFO stands for Cisneros Fontanals ART Foundation. This foundation, coincidentally, happens to provide art installations in One Sothebys International South Beach real estate office in a partnership. CIFO is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and promoting contemporary artists from Latin America via an annual grants program.
The Developer of GLASS
