Our associates recently had the opportunity to participate in an orientation conference at the iconic Sotheby's Auction House in New York City. Sotheby's real estate agents from all around the country gathered to network and enjoyed browsing the Polaroid Collection on display throughout the gallery. The Polaroid Collection, one of the largest photography sales ever held by Sotheby's, garnered major buzz from the international art worldand sales exceeded high estimates. Rare photographs of pop legends such as Farrah Fawcett, Bianca Jagger and Ed Kennedy sold for record amounts and a self portrait of Andy Warhol was purchased for $254,500- the highest price ever for a single photograph by the artist.
Another highlight of the sale was Ansel Adams' mural sized prints of stunning landscapes. Also on display were vintage models ofPolaroidcameras as well as instruction manuals and magazines from the 50's, 60's and 70's. Polaroids paved the way for the instant photography in today's digital age and it's refreshing to see that this original format is still highly appreciated and sought after. The One SIR team had a wonderful stay in NYC and loved the photography collection. Our associates recently had the opportunity to participate in an orientation conference at the iconic Sotheby's Auction House in New York City.
