Sothebys fall auction season is in full swing. The staggering variety promises something for every collector. Here are some highlights regarding 20th- and 21st-century art, designer furnishings and even a rare cache from rock royalty at its New York and Palm Beach locations. Contemporary Curated

Marvelous works by Agnes Martin, Umar Rashid, Kaws and Laura Owensnot to mention Frank Stellas 1977 painting from his Scramble series, picturedare among Contemporary Curateds lots that go live on September 30. Color Field

The uniquely-themed sale titled Expansive Color: American Past Painterly Abstraction focuses on a small selection of Color Field works inspired by a LACMA exhibit in 1964. The Abstract movement was trailblazed by artists such as Helen Frankenthaler, whose Eye of the Storm painting is featured here. The online-only auction closes October 1. sothebys.com

Music Memorabilia

The Grateful Dead continues to cast a spell on its cultish fans, affectionately known as Deadheads. Theyll be clicking away during Octobers online auction From the Vault: Property from the Grateful Dead and Friends. Jerry Garcias 12-string Guild Starfire guitar is among several of the bands instruments, sound equipment and outfits for sale. sothebys.com

Modern Dcor

Devotees of modern and minimalist furniture and dcor are in luck. The impeccable personal collection of interior textile firm scion Michael Maharam is going to auction. Approximately 200 lotsincluding pieces by Charlotte Perriand, Donald Judd and Gerrit Rietveld, an architect of the De Stijl movement, will be sold from October 15-October 19. sothebys.com

Palm Beach

While the above auctions are taking place in New York, Sothebys Palm Beach gallery exhibits Selected Works by John Baldessari and Ed Ruscha through November 14. Stars of the West Coast art scene, particularly California Conceptualism, these artists often used text and imagery.
