Helping those impacted by the Surfside tragedy

Support Surfside

Several nonprofits including the Key Biscayne Community Foundation, the Miami Foundation and the Coral Gables Community Foundation established Support Surfside, a hardship fund, to raise relief funds for those impacted by the collapse and demolition of the Champlain Towers South residences. United Way of Miami-Dade

From health to financial resources to education, United Way of Miami-Dade has been here for our community for nearly a century. The nonprofit established Operation Helping Hands to donate funds, as well as partnered with VolunteerMiami.org for people to sign up for its Become an Emergency Relief Volunteer initiative. unitedwaymiami.org

The Greater Miami Jewish Federation

The Greater Miami Jewish Federation, a nonprofit thats helped our community for decades, has raised nearly $2 million for its Emergency Fund for the Surfside Building Collapse. The fund is a partnership with its program Mishkan Miami: the Jewish Connection for Spiritual Support and Jewish Community Services of South Florida. All proceeds benefit people impacted by the tragedy, including short-term and long-term needs such as financial assistance, crisis counseling and daily essentials. jewishmiami.org

The Shul of Bal Harbour

The Shul of Bal Harbour has served the communities of Surfside, Bal Harbour, Bay Harbor and Indian Creek, as well as visitors from all over the world since its inception in 1981. In response to the Surfside tragedy its 8777 Collins Avenue Relief Fund has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to be dispersed directly to the survivors and victims families. theshul.org

Surfside Strength

Surfside Strengths website serves as a central hub for most of the newly established Surfside-related services and funds, which are constantly being updated. In addition to providing an excellent resource for researching ways to give (including all of the above mentioned efforts), it features sections addressing support services for families, first responders and the community. surfsidestrength.com

Volunteer Florida

Rather than donate through GoFundMe due to reported scams, its suggested to donate monetary funds through Volunteer Floridas website. Founded in 1994, the statewide nonprofit administers national service programs, education initiatives and social services, and encourages volunteerism. volunteerflorida.org

Local Art Auction

The local art community shows its support through an online art auction organized by Showfields lifestyle showroom in Miami Beach. Works have been donated by artists like Judith Berk King, Laura Marsh, Natasha Tomchin and Alette Simmons-Jimenez to benefit those affected by the Surfside tragedy.
