Talented Teens
One of the perks of living locally is being able to attend National YoungArts Week at the New World Center in Miami Beach. Due to covid, this years performances through January 30 will be streamed for all to enjoy at home. Each night features one to two disciplines such as jazz, theater, film and dance. Mini Museum
Sothebys is bringing in the big guns for its Palm Beach pop up. On view through January 31, Picasso to Rothko: European and American Masters in Dialogue is like rolling through a timeline of blue-chip art from the 20th century. Soul Train
One of Miamis most beloved benefits, PAMMs annual Art + Soul will pivot to a virtual event on February 6. But that doesnt mean director Franklin Sirmans and friends are skimping on the party. Attendees will dine on a spread crafted by celebrity chef (and event honoree) Marcus Samuelsson, hear conversations about new acquisitions and boogie to set by DJ Pam Jones. pamm.org
Dancing in the Streets
As Miami City Ballet waits to return to traditional performance venues, the company is literally taking its show on the road. Its outdoor performance series To Miami, With Love roves all over town from January 30 to February 21. Unique choreography and dance genres in addition to classical ballet connect each piece to its neighborhood such as Little Havana and Wynwood. miamicityballet.org
In-Person Opera
Music to the ears of starved opera fans, Florida Grand Operas winter season is actually happening in person. Masks and social distancing are a must to attend a trio of performances starting with acclaimed composer Jake Heggies Three Decembers. Daron Hagens New York Stories and a double bill of Leonard Bernsteins Trouble in Tahiti and Thomas Pasatieris Signor Deluso are also scheduled. fgo.org
Time Travel
As most of us put travel on hold, escape to New Yorks bucolic Hudson River Valley through art. Poetry of Nature: Hudson River School Landscapes, a traveling group show organized by the New York Historical Society, arrived at the Vero Beach Museum of Art through May 2.
