Week in and week out, culture comes into our homes thanks to streaming. We can hear world-class musicians one minute and watch the hottest documentary the next. There are lectures galore to attend, and festivals of all kinds have moved online. Heres a quick rundown of August highlights. Sit back and enjoy the show.

Pat Steir: Artist Screening

Octogenarian American artist Pat Steir is the subject of Veronica Gonzalez Peas new documentary Pat Steir: Artist. Pea, a novelist, approaches the trailblazing feminist and Conceptual Abstraction pioneers story as a first-person autobiography broken down into chapters. Their intimate exchange covers family, politics, poetry and other facets of her incredible life and place in the art world. The Aspen Music Festival

Famous for more than skiing, Aspen has evolved into an important cultural hub. Its annual Aspen Music Festival and School's 2020 Virtual Season offers premier programming from master classes to concerts through August 23. Upcoming, complimentary Sunday recitals include Beethoven by Swiss pianist Andreas Haefliger and Bach and Ysae by German violinist Augustin Hadelich (pictured). Art Basel Conversations

Art Basel has been celebrating its 50th anniversary with a nostalgic look back through the decades. Part of its Conversations series, the fine art fair named after its Swiss origins revisits the Eighties on August 13. Global director Marc Spiegler Zooms with artists and gallerists about the roller-coaster eras highs and lows. Register here.

OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival

South Floridas 22nd annual OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival streams international films virtually (ticketed and complimentary) from August 20-30. A special drive-in preview and Q&A for the buzzy comedy Stage Mother starring Jacki Weaver, Adrian Grenier and Lucy Liu opens this edition. The virtual line-up features Single Street, Letters to Eloisa and The Goddess of Fortune, among dozens of films. Purchase tickets here.

Art Talks at Vero Beach Museum of Art

To complement its exhibition Avery to Warhol, the Vero Beach Museum of Art has organized a summer salon series to join from the comfort of your own home at lunchtime. Open to members and non-members via Zoom, hour-long art talks include Redefining the Artist about the everchanging parameters of the artistic practice on August 19; and Women Artists spanning their achievements during the 1970s and 1980s on September 16.
