Yet another reason to visit Miamis happening hood of Allapattah, El Espacio 23 joins Rubell Museum. The 28,000-square-foot warehouse holds the private art collection of Jorge M. Prez, whose name also graces the citys main art museum. Colombian curator Jos Roca chose nearly 100 works by 80 artists for its inaugural exhibition, Time for Change: Art and Social Unrest.

Backyard Bash
Speaking of art, one of our favorite annual galas and causes is coming up. The YoungArts Backyard Ball returns to the nonprofits campus on January 11 to honor artist Teresita Fernndez, who has a concurrent exhibit at PAMM, and Terence Blanchard, a Grammy-winning composer and musician. Miami-bred actress and YoungArts Winner/Theater Natalie Gold serves as emcee.
