Best Places to Celebrate Pride Month in South Florida

Every June, America's LGBTcommunity and its supporters come together for a month-long celebration of love, diversity, acceptance and unashamed self-pride.This month was chosen in commemoration of the Stonewall riots held by members of the LGBT community against a police raid in New York City on June 28, 1969;the "tipping point" for the gay liberation movement and impetus for the modern fight for gay rights.Across the country parades, demonstrations and events are held to honor and celebrate. Below are some of the best places and events to show your Pride this month.

Wilton Manors Stonewall Pride Parade and Festival

Taking place on June 16, this event includes a parade, live music from local artists and DJs, and a street festival.With over 100 vendors and exhibitors, and food vendors and trucks, the Festival marketplace a fun way to spend the afternoon. Several of the area nonprofits and governmental agencies take part and provide a wide range of information and services to attendees. You can also join in on Wilton Manors' Skate Night, occurring this month on June 20.Bring friends and family along for classic fun on quad skates in the Arena Roller Rink; $15 per person includes entrance, skate rental, festivities with $5 from each ticket going to benefit Wilton Manors Stonewall Pride Parade & Street Festival.Each night will feature a Live DJ and Special Guest Appearances.

Palace, Miami Beach

Spend an evening at Palace on Miami Beach. Known for its drinks, music and food paired with world-renowned drag performances this popular spot on 11th Street and Ocean Drive is a staple for South Beach pride and a history of vocal support for gay rights. Every night has a different theme, and the bar hosts a variety of exceptional events throughout the year.
