Miami-Dade and Fort Lauderdale/Broward Counties Ranked as Top Real Estate Markets in U.S.

Miami-Dade and Fort Lauderdale/Broward counties are both ranked among the top real estate markets in the country. The results from the annual Emerging Trends unreal Estate study conducted for the Urban Land Institute by PwC were recently revealed. The study looks at attractiveness for real estate investment and development prospects in 78 U.S. markets, asking more than 1,600 real estate experts about their opinions on emerging trends.

Fort Lauderdale/Broward County had the biggest gain in this year's survey, jumping to No. 6 on the list, up 29 spots from the previous year. Miami-Dade County moved up from No. 25 to No. 11.

"Both markets have diverse economies; an influx on young, skilled workers; and a great quality of life, said PwC PartnerMitch Roschelle, who authored the report. "The reason Fort Lauderdale is higher on the list is due, in part, to a broader national trend of families moving to the suburbs. In this case, Fort Lauderdale from Miami, as well as other places around the country. The new residents are drawn to Fort Lauderdale as it is affordable to live and it has a lower cost of doing business.

Smaller markets like Fort Lauderdale are displacing traditional powerhouse markets due to their livability, employment offerings and array of amenities. Close proximity to large cities but with lower cost make these cities excellent investment opportunities.
