Style & Sociology

The Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami may still be waiting for its permanent home in the Miami Design District but that isnt stopping the fledgling museum from programming nonstop exhibits and events. Guys who are looking to spruce up their spring wardrobes can stop by John Varvatos Bal Harbour boutique for a 20-percent discount. Ten percent of the evenings proceeds benefit ICA. Native Miami artist and co-host Emmett Moores works will be on display. RSVP here.

Meanwhile, the ICA exhibits conceptual artist John Millers comprehensive survey, I Stand, I Fall, through June 12. It marks his first show at a U.S. museum. Going beyond traditional artist talks, ICA hosts a two-day workshop with Austrian sociologist Ulf Wuggenig on April 1 and 2.

Some of our agents have already discovered Barefish Sushis delicious spreads as a healthier catering option for open houses and any meeting or celebration, from a casual pool party to a sit-down dinner with A5 Kobe beef and caviar. Two couples whose exotic backgrounds weave together Israel, Brazil and the Dominican Republic launched the concept that travels to private homes for parties and group cooking classes. Check Facebook to find where theyre popping up around town such as the Upper East Side farmers market at Legion Park this Saturday. Rolls highlighting local fruit and fish (tuna and mango; salmon and strawberries) are immensely popular, as is soft-shell crab when in season. Tofu sauce replaces heavy mayo without losing its silky consistency and tang, and they even pickle their own ginger.

He also plans to sell homemade condiments like smoky hot sauce and Papis BBQ sauce for early Fathers Day and graduation barbecue shopping.

Local firefighter and pit master Joe Fantigrassi lends his expertise for dry-rubbed spare ribs, pastrami-spiced chicken wings, and pulled pork with dill pickles. Sides range from macaroni and cheese to fennel cole slaw. More than a new venture, it fetes the fifth anniversary of Bryants beloved farm-to-table restaurant.
