Tia Castle: Welcome to the home of Linebacker Karlos Dansby, were at Southwest Ranches, which is just west from Fort Lauderdale. Come on in and we will meet the listing realtor, Ben Moss.
Tia Castle: Youve worked hard to get where you are at. I mean, this house is absolutely gorgeous. For ten thousand square feet and it's decorated very uniquely. Now, you didnt grow up in a house like this.
Linebacker, Karlos Dansby: Right, I grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. I grew up in an apartment to be honest (laughs) and like I said that was the motivation, to get out of Birmingham and make it to a position where I can buy a home like this and be able to show my kids and give them something better than I had.
Ben Moss: Well, there are certain things that every athlete wants to have in their home, besides the audio visual technology which is here and its outside as well. So you have a sport court with retractable rims and up and down basketball hoops, youve got a huge pool, we got room to set up your own football field if you want. Some clients in this community also built tennis courts in addition to the sport courts. So there is just a lot of room to relax and play.
Tia Castle: And invite lots of friends.
Ben Moss: And have huge parties.
Tia Castle: If another baller came in, what would you think he will like about this house?
Karlos Dansby: He will really like the theater, thats one area. He will really like the guest home, if he is getting massages, taking care of his body or working out he could turn it into a gym. He has that much space inside of it. And I know he will love the tub in the master bedroom, the space of the master bedroom, even the closet.
Tia Castle: And do you sit in that tub a lot?
Karlos Dansby: Yes, with Epsom salt, after a long game, it helps the muscle calm down a little bit.
Tia Castle: Ben what are some of the nuances of dealing with athletes?
Ben Moss: You know, there are more of logistical concerns that athletes have, I can give you some examples: they are young, they have money, they have family pressure, a lot of times they are in one city one year, theyre in the next city the next day, possibly. They are getting cut, traded, drafted, so they have trainings in the off-season somewhere else. Should they buy, should they rent, should they finance long term if they are one a five-year contract for instance. So, there are a lot of thing to take into account.
Lisa Castle: Tell me about the highlights of this house.
Ben Moss: Well first of all, you are in Southwest Ranches in a very exclusive gated community called Landmark Ranch Estates. More than half of the owners of this community are athletes and one major movie star. What you have here are estate homes that are all over ten thousand square feet on at least 2.5 acres of land and they are very private, all gated and in this particular home, you have an amazing backyard.
