Just below downtown and across the St. Johns River you’ll discover the historic neighborhood of San Marco in Jacksonville. A pre-planned community, San Marco has its share of contemporary and turn-of-the-century architecture. On the southside of the peninsula on the St. Johns River, this bustling community stands in stark contrast to its neighbor Southfork which was wholly absorbed into the city of Jacksonville, turned mostly commercial, and lacks the eclectic and unique character of San Marco.
