Bal Harbour Shops’ annual Ice Cream We Love benefits Holtz Children’s Hospital at University of Miami’s Jackson Memorial Medical Center on January 11 and 12. The ticketed event features scoops by local and out-of-town purveyors as well as activations and games.

Out of 10,000 blooming orchids on display, only two entries will win Grand Champion prizes at the Fort Lauderdale Orchid Society’s 62nd annual 20/20 Orchid Vision Show & Sale on January 10-12. Founded in 1951 by a dozen members, the organization has been hosting shows since 1957. Note this year’s new venue, the Broward County Convention Center.

Argentina-based Lennox Hotels launched its first U.S. property in South Beach. The cozy hideaway’s meticulous details—interiors and exteriors dripping with real moss and a vending machine stocked with mini bottles of champagne—harken back to Nineties’ boutique hotels. The chic restaurant serves tamarind-glazed Cornish hen and yellow fin tuna with Carolina gold rice.

Sandwiched between Art Basel and February’s nonstop festivals, January offers its own share of plumb events. ICA, Miami celebrates five years at the 365 Party on January 18 with a special music performance by Cat Power. Wine critic James Suckling and star chef Gastón Acurio collaborate on Great Wines of the World’s inaugural U.S. edition with a dinner and grand tasting on January 23 and 24, respectively.
