Now that Basel is behind us, it’s time for holiday cheer. Here are some ways to enjoy the season.
Known as the Venice of America, it’s no wonder that Fort Lauderdale stages the state’s premier holiday boat parade. On December 14, one million spectators are expected for the 48th annual Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade. The 12-mile route winds from the Stranahan House on the New River to Pompano Beach with VIP viewing areas and an after party at Burlock Coast.
Almost as good as the real thing, the Frost Museum of Science will transform into a Winter Wonderland on December 15. Little kids can learn about polar bear cubs during its Mini-Me Science program, while the whole family will enjoy special science demonstrations about snowflakes, the North Star, the freezing process and holiday lights’ circuitry.

Celebrating its centennial, the Bonnet House Museum & Gardens is made for holiday entertaining. The historic landmark hosts Holiday Magic Evening Experiences on December 12 and 13 with a festival of trees, yuletide carols and a professional choir. Come out from 5:30-8:30 p.m., with performances starting at 6:30. Victoria Park Flowers leads a workshop for holiday arrangements on December 12, too.

Aventura Mall is going big for the holidays. The glam center has fashioned a one-stop spectacle for the season. For starters, there’s Santa’s Workshop with a light and sound show every hour as well as massive teddy bears, toy soldiers and candy canes. Reserve photo sittings here.
Children will also love Candytopia’s pop up, a model train display, live music and wintry digital effects.
