The Scoop: Weekend of November 9th

Thanksgiving isn’t the only big meal this month. The Regional Kitchen & Public House in West Palm Beach and Duckhorn Vineyards host a dinner on Monday, November 13. Up to 60 diners will be treated to four courses by chef Lindsay Autry, such as stone crab timbale with sorghum tabbouleh in gazpacho vinaigrette and grilled wahoo with celery root remoulade, which are paired with chardonnay and Migration pinot noir, respectively. Learn more about St. Helena, Calif.-based Duckhorn from its director of winemaking and viticulture P.J. Alviso. Swank Farms, Autry’s former stomping ground in nearby Loxahatchee, kicks off season soon. Bring the family for a barn brunch to celebrate the fall harvest on November 26. Tickets ($87 for adults, $45 for children 4-12) include live music, bloody Marys and mimosas.

Ari, a men’s wear boutique from Manhattan that opened in 2001, expanded to 1 Hotel & Homes in South Beach. Israeli founder and designer Moshe Ben-Ari specializes in luxury ready to wear and bespoke fashions in cuts for athletic bodies including broad shoulders and slim waists. The collection, which favors fine silk, cashmere and leather with an artisanal twist like overdyed, ultra-lightweight knits for a vintage look and natural vegetable dyes, is produced at small factories throughout Italy. Because most of his clients live between Miami and New York, he sells as many winter coats, from shearlings and down puffers to a new cotton military jacket with a removable fox fur lining for Art Basel and the holidays, in both locations. A little-known tip:  He also offers custom fashions for women.

Aston Martin made a splash at last week’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show with its extremely fast AM37S powerboat (blue version pictured). As flashy as South Florida’s sports cars, the 37-foot day boat was displayed in Diavolo red and cream leather upholstery with red contrast stitching. UK-based Quintessence Yachts marries maritime and automotive prowess in handcrafted vessels, each comprised of 3,500 exclusive parts. Two versions are available. The “gran turismo” leisure craft comes with twin 370 hp Mercury diesels or 430 hp Mercury petrol engines. The AM37S’s twin 520 hp petrol engines by Mercury Racing increase maximum speed to 50 knots. Its technology impresses too. A mobile app remotely operates sliding cockpit panels in carbon fiber, while the dashboard’s 15-inch touchscreen controls navigation to the electric anchor and entertainment system.
