Another prominent sale is in the books for Sotheby’s International Realty. Legendary singer Sting listed his duplex penthouse on Central Park West with the company, and it sold for $50 million. Sting and his wife bought the property in 2008 for around $27 million.
The 5,417 square-foot duplex is on the 16th and 17th floors of 15 Central Park West and features 43 feet of park frontage, viewable from the 396 square-foot terrace. Driehaus Prize winning architect Robert A.M. Stern, and interior designer Lee F. Mindel of Shelton, Mindel & Associates came together to create a truly magnificent space whose creative features reflect its former owners.
Floor to ceiling windows frame park views, bringing in natural light and green accents throughout the open concept main living space. A distinctive and eye-catching open fireplace serves as a divider between sitting areas and as a conversation piece. The shape of the fireplace is mimicked by a sculptural winding staircase in the foyer. Dual spa baths, a sauna, and his and her dressing rooms bring refined luxury to the private areas of the duplex.
