The Wynwood area was a forgotten neighborhood for much of the second half of the twentieth century. The area started to get some acclaim as an art district with an emerging art scene developing out of the warehouse district close to 1-95.
In 2005, developers acquired land previously owned by the Florida East Coast Railroad and applied a development master plan known as Midtown Miami. Midtown Miami has helped gentrify the Wynwood area by bringing in big box retailers, restaurants and thousands of residents.
The Wynwood area is now considered the place for art with the monthly Wynwood Art Walk where thousands of people amass on the second Saturday of every month to look at art and sample delicacies from the Miami Food Trucks.
The residential area features 8 residential buildings with a variety of living options. Four of the buildings are currently built and occupied.
