Miami Beach Gets Posh with Polo Match

Last weekend, in spite of some rainy weather, over 12,000 locals and visitors enjoyed equestrian sports on the shores of the Atlantic when the eighth annual Miami Beach Polo World Cup set up between luxe properties The Setai and The W just off of Collins Avenue.

The competition, featuring both men and women players, included top ranked performer Rico Mansur from Brazil, as well as other polo masters from as far away as Russia, Switzerland and Malaysia.

Horsepower wasn’t just on four legs, but in Maserati – the luxury car brand was the title sponsor for the first time this year. On the stretch of beach, thoroughbred horses and polo players competed, while spectators enjoyed CÎROC vodka cocktails under well-appointed tents.

Yacht lovers enjoyed the scene by pulling up anchor on the beach nearby in the turquoise blue waters. Residents of The W – where ONE | Sotheby’s holds exclusive listings in condominiums – enjoyed the view from their balconies above the surf.

Miami’s Art Scenes at the W South Beach Residences and Wynwood Attracting Hip Visitors from Around the World.

 

In the last few years Miami’s art scene has become one of the most recognized in the world. With the annual buzz of Art Basel and hip new galleries opening in up and coming neighborhoods like Wynwood, it’s no surprise that international visitors are flocking to our city to experience it up close. The South Florida Real Estate Twitter community is one of the most active in the country- they created the #MiamiRealEChat, which takes place on a weekly basis and is a platform to discuss real estate topics ranging from neighborhood lifestyles, technology, local politics and more. The #MiamiRealEChat has spread virally and has even caught the attention of journalists, which have highlighted it in articles for The Miami Herald, the South Florida Business Journal and even The Los Angeles Times.

Seeing the success of the #MiamiRealEChat, we would like to introduce the #OpenHouse hashtag as another tool for realtors to optimize their exposure on Twitter. The One Sotheby’s team was excited attend and network overseas at the Sotheby’ s 2010 Art Auction Event in Hong Kong. The sale series, having achieved triumphant results, took place from October 2 – 8 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. ONE Sotheby’ s International Realty was able to reach a global network, while showcasing their exclusive listing the W Residences at South Beach among the world’ s most prestigious homes and Asia’ s wealthiest consumers. The weeklong art auction was an effective way for ONE Sotheby’ s International Realty to attract foreign investments to the South Florida region.

According to recently released data by Sotheby’ s, the art sale results far surpassed pre-sale estimates amounting to more than $400 million – the highest total ever for a sale series in Hong Kong.

“The Sotheby’ s Autumn 2010 Sales Event was an exceptional way to network overseas and reach consumers in Hong Kong – a hub for the world’s most expensive real estate,” said one Sotheby’s Founder and principal Mayi de la Vega. “ It has enabled us to extend our listings beyond the South Florida market and increase visibility for future real estate transactions.”

Sotheby’ s International Realty also hosted the grand opening event to launch the new Hong Kong Sotheby’s International Realty office. Sotheby’ s International Realty affiliates from the U.S., Canada, Japan, New Zealand and the United Kingdom were able to showcase their prominent listings as well.

Building on the success of the Spring Auction earlier in the year, Sotheby’ s continued to present an array of distinguished thematic collections this season. The auction offered the world’ s finest collections, such as 3,200 lots of Modern and Contemporary Asian Art, traditional Chinese paintings, fine Chinese ceramics, jewelry, watches and fine wine.

Miami Luxury Real Estate Stats at A Glance: Condos over $5 million- Are they Selling?

 

There has been a significant rebound in the luxury condo market this year and sales have exceeded expectations in Coral Gables, Miami Beach, Downtown Miami and other metropolitan areas in South Florida. More buyers are being attracted by the top of the line amenities offered at high-rises such as the W South Beach and The Setai as well as stunning views and central locations. Demand for these properties is growing rapidly and One Sotheby’s is servicing the needs of buyers and sellers.

In the last 12 months, 12 luxury condos have sold for over $5 million or higher in Miami-Dade County. Currently, the average price for a significant luxury condo is $1000+ with 103 condos priced at over $5 million listed in the MLS (approximately 5,000+sq ft), which is the lowest inventory point in the past two years. Just in the last 60 days, notable sales include the elegant Tower Suite in Gables Club for $9 million to a buyer from Ocean Reef. Also, the Penthouse at the Marquis closed at $4.2 million, making it the highest residential sale in Downtown Miami and a penthouse at The Setai in Miami Beach fetched an impressive $15 million. The highest listed luxury condo in the market is the 6,026 sq. ft. penthouse at The Setai– priced at $27 million, the property boasts a sky roof top terrace, custom woodwork and perks such as concierge, room service, state of the art fitness center, restaurants and three main pools.

The Tweet-Up took place in Upper Penthouse 7 that has breathtaking sunset view of Miami Beach from the outside living area . 75+ guests enjoyed two hours of complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and took advantage of a wonderful networking opportunity with the One Sotheby’s team.   Over 100 tweets with the #onesir hashtag were posted during the event and were broad casted to a live Twitter feed that was constantly updating on the main television monitor. One lucky guest won a stay at The W and a lovely evening was had by all.
