ONE CIFO Project Hosts Informative Lecture on Art Collecting

Art collectors and enthusiasts, along with a group of top South Florida real estate brokers gathered at the ONE CIFO Project in ONE Sotheby’s International Realty’s Miami Beach real estate office for an informal discussion on art collecting by advisors Sarah Jane Bruce and Flavia Masetto. Based in Los Angeles and Buenos Aires, Sarah Jane Bruce and Flavia Masetto both operate fine art services and have a joint art collaboration that includes some of the most important works in their respective hemispheres.

During the lecture they focused on the question, “Why Collect?” and offered a rare glimpse into the insider world of art collecting and tips on how to start a personal collection and continue to evolve it. They also touched upon what makes a sound art investment, and how fine art is the new asset class next to real estate and other acquisitions. One of the interesting points they discussed was what the role of emerging markets, specifically Latin America, means for the global art scene.

Throughout the entire event our brokers were on hand to explain to guests about the positive shift in the Miami real estate market as well as real estate market in South Florida and they also had the chance to meet with other agents from Sotheby’s International Realty affiliate offices in Aspen and Turks and Caicos. Stephan Burke, a ONESir Broker, was approached by a buyer interested in purchasing a $20million+ home close to the Coconut Grove area that conveniently walked over to the tent and got more information about current listings. Another agent, Patrick Vysata, met a lady from France that has just sold her villa with the Sotheby’s Realty affiliate in the region and would be interested in purchasing a second property in South Florida soon. Our agents said that many visitors were interested in our developments including Cielo on the Bay, 1000 Museum, Altos Del Mar and Bellini Williams Island.

High Pines: Quiet Neighborhood Close to Urban Comforts

high-pines-home-miami

This High Pines home on prestigious School House Road was sold by One Sotheby’s agent Jose Luis Pere for $1,950,000.

Lush tropical landscapes and streets shaded by old growth trees characterize High Pines, a small neighborhood surrounded by South Miami, Coral Gables, the Ponce Davis area and nearby Pinecrest. Single-family homes are predominant here, with the recent addition of townhomes.

High Pines boasts quiet streets and a tree-lined promenade off of Red Road offering children and adults a safe place to jog and cycle.

High Pines is nestled in an area of Miami with rich history. Native Americans roamed the area, but in more recent times, W.A. Larkins built a farming community in the late 19th century along with a post office, general supply store and, eventually, a depot for the East Coast Railroad. School House Road at the eastern perimeter of High Pines is aptly named after one first school houses built in Miami.

After World War II, many veterans settled in the area to work for the now defunct Holsum Bakery. The scent of fresh bread permeated the neighborhood well into the 1980s.

Today, High Pines is an ideal community for professionals and families who enjoy nature in a pedestrian friendly community.  And it’s also convenient because of its proximity to a commercial district.

Sunset Drive’s commercial district in South Miami offers a home-town feel with excellent dining and shopping.

High Pines residents benefit from walking distance access to South Miami’s quaint downtown for many reasons: restaurants — ranging from affordable to gourmet fare — that offer a variety of international cuisines; ice cream, coffee shops and bakeries; bars and pubs; hair and nail salons; day spas; yoga and private fitness studios; specialty fashion and jewelry boutiques, including fine furnishings, linen, infant clothes as well as upscale consignment shops.

The area also features many conveniences such as pharmacies, banks, medical offices, pet shops, a post office, a hardware store and more. Markets abound, including a Whole Foods and a long-established fishmonger at Mariner’s Seafood. Sunset Place Mall features movies, bowling, a Barnes and Noble and other chain retail.

High Pines is also home to the historic Audobon House. Just minutes away are Dante Fascell Park, Pinecrest Gardens, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden and Matheson Hammock Park, which boasts beautiful views of Biscayne Bay. Top schools, both public and private, a private tennis club, a decades-old ballet school and places of worship also surround the neighborhood. The University of Miami is just across the main thoroughfare of US1 and is home to the Lowe Art Museum, which exhibits an impressive collection of permanent and visiting art work.
