This June, hundreds of Sotheby’s International Realty affiliate brokers, agents and executives will be gathered in Los Angeles for the annual Global Networking Event. The conference starts on June 2nd and runs through June 5th, and it’s an invaluable networking opportunity for everyone involved in the Sotheby’s real estate brand. ONE Sotheby’s International Realty will have a group of more than 50 agents attending the event.

The Global Networking Event is another element that makes our brand truly an international one. With offices in over 45 countries and more than 12,500 agents, it’s the only global real estate company that connects affluent buyers and sellers with the right properties on a consistent basis. The Global Networking Event will feature presentations and workshops by top industry leaders on everything from marketing to technology as well as networking opportunities round the clock.

Real Estate Connect Takeaway: Become a “Latte Visionary”

The Real Estate Industry’s top movers and shakers gathered in NYC for Real Estate Connect presented by Inman News. The three -day conference was packed with informative sessions that covered every aspect of the real estate business with a focus on technology and innovation. ONE Sotheby’s International Realty’s Director of Sales and Brand Experience, Janie Coffey, attended Real Estate Connect and participated in a panel in front of hundreds of leaders and agents from around the country.

The main theme of the conference was achieving the “Latte Vision”, which is delivering a consistent, convenient, fast and digital transaction to every buyer and seller you come across. Similar to the experience that consumers get at Starbucks, “Latte Vision” encourages agents to keep pushing the industry forward by offering consistent service and using digital tools that are fast and get results. Panelist Pete Flint, CEO and co-founder of Trulia, had sound advice for realtors that want to achieve the Latte Vision: “Focus less on a detailed business plan and more on developing something real to show potential investors that reveals a major consumer insight and does something tangible and clear.”

One of the kitchens featured in last year’s tour is in a 1926 home designed by Dudley St. Clair Donnelly, later remodeled by Phineas Paist. The fourth annual Tour of Kitchens takes place on January 26, 2013 and gives participants a sneak peak into some of Coral Gables’ finest kitchens. The event is a fundraiser for the Coral Gables Community Foundation, founded in 1991 by community leaders to serve the needs of residents.

During the self-guided tour, participants visit private home kitchens throughout the City Beautiful and enjoy tastings from local restaurants and caterers. Stunning interior design and table settings provide a visual feast. Home cooks can expand their knowledge in cooking demonstrations; shopaholics have foodie merchandise, artisan foods as well as home goods to purchase and will especially love a giant garage sale hosted by Les Dames de Escoffier Miami.

The tour begins at 10 AM at Snaidero Showroom where participants can pick up a Tour Program and Map. Addresses are not revealed until the day of the tour. Participants may visit the homes in any order they please between 10 AM and 2 PM.

The tour concludes with a champagne and dessert reception in the courtyard of Books and Books, featuring desserts by local artisans and local cookbook authors available for book signing.

This year, the tour includes an exclusive Patron Party on January 17 for guests to sample food by a talented local chef in a private home.

Winterfest Boat Parade Lights Up Fort Lauderdale’s Waterways

The 41st annual Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade takes place this year on December 15 along the Intracoastal Waterway in a 12-mile route from Fort Lauderdale’s New River to Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach. A family-friendly tradition, the nighttime flotilla boasts a variety of watercraft — from privately owned boats to showboats and corporate megayachts — decked out by local artists, professional decorators and individual boat owners who’ve spent countless hours festooning their vessels with colorful holiday decorations and lights. Musical entertainment also accompanies the visual feast.

This year, Moët and Chandon presented a Black Tie Ball at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino — the largest holiday gala in Fort Lauderdale — to support the non-profit organization that runs all Winterfest activities, which now go beyond the parade itself and feature culinary contests, student art contests, family fun days, grand marshal receptions, white parties and more.

Holiday enthusiasm doesn’t just end on the surf. Shoreline decoration of Broward’s waterfront homes along the route is also encouraged in an extravaganza event.

The parade theme for 2012 is “Musical Memories” with Grand Marshal Deborah Norville of Inside Edition boarding luxury charter yacht the Floridian Princess to lead the flotilla. And for the first time in the parade’s history, a replica of an 1812 tallship, The Lynx Privateer, will be sailing along with the other boats.

The Winterfest Celebration enhances quality of life in the Greater Fort Lauderdale area. From the website:

The Winterfest Celebration embraces the dual goals of providing a means for the community to come together and enjoy spectacular and unique events as well as attract positive national attention to the Greater Fort Lauderdale area as a tourist destination and as a great place to live and work.

With over 300 miles of navigable canals, Fort Lauderdale has been dubbed the “Venice of the Americas” and is a yacht lover’s paradise. Click here to read more about Fort Lauderdale’s waterfront homes and dockage.

IF YOU GO

Grandstand viewing tickets sold out early this year, but there are plenty of viewing opportunities along Las Olas Boulevard starting at 6 PM near the Stranahan House in downtown Fort Lauderdale and admission to Hugh Taylor Birch State Park is only $3, where the parade is expected to pass by at 8 PM.  The official viewing hotel is the Riverside Hotel on Las Olas.

Visit the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade website for more information.

Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Real Estate Luncheon Focus on Miami’s Promising Real Estate Rebound

ONE Sotheby’s International Realty participated in the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce’s annual real estate luncheon where panelists discussed how Miami’s real estate recovery is leading the country. Madeleine Romanello, broker at ONE Sotheby’s and MBCC Council Chair helped organize the event, which drew a crowd of over 250 of Miami’s top realtors and industry leaders.

During the panel conversation, ONE Sotheby’s President, Beth Butler, addressed the room with key points, which included how the influx of international buyers has had a positive impact on these recent changes. Beth was quoted by the Miami Herald, saying that the outlook will continue to be optimistic as long as “we don’t screw it up” and focus on strategically placing new construction development in areas that are not already oversaturated. The steady decline in inventory is another positive sign that Miami real estate market is becoming stronger after the devastating bust.

ONE Sotheby's President Beth Butler

The theme of the luncheon “Anchored in Concrete- Miami Leading the Way!” was a fitting slogan for an event where spirits were high about the outlook for the city. Miami’s proximity to Latin America and Europe, as well as the comfortable climate and amenities offered by new luxury condos will continue to make it an attractive location for foreign buyers. In the last year alone, not only has the real estate market increased, new cultural and entertainment venues have made it the best place to enjoy a resort lifestyle, which can’t be found in many other cities around the country.

We look forward to continue to be part of Miami’s new real estate era, where things are looking very well! read more about the MBCC Real Estate Luncheon in The Miami Herald.
