This week Qatar Airlines continued to solidify Miami as a major metropolitan hub by adding a direct flight between Doha and MIA. The five-star international airline only offers direct flights to five other U.S. cities, making Miami a top destination for Middle Eastern tourists and investors alike. Qatar Airlines CEO, Akbar Al Baker said that Miami holds great appeal as a travel spot of its own and a gateway to the Caribbean for tourists hoping to hop on major cruise lines.
Al Baker spoke at the St. Regis Bal Harbour this week alongside the Miami Dade County Mayor and Aviation Director. He described the allure of his airline as “youthful” with aircrafts that are 4.2 years old and in-flight personnel that are 28 years old on average respectively. This major airline announcement comes atop of news of a quickly expanding PortMiami and new MLS stadium. Miami is making its mark as a cultural and economic epicenter and showing no signs of slowing down.
