We are thrilled to present the ONE CIFO Project that has just launched at our new Miami Beach office location. The visionaries behind the project are ONE Sotheby’s principal and founder Mayi de La Vega and Ella Cisneros, founder of the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation, CIFO. By combining forces to create ONE CIFO, they have now created a rotating exhibition program designed to garner more exposure for contemporary Latin American artists as well as to raise fund for the foundation. This collaborative fundraising initiative features a sampling of works by artists who have been nominated for a CIFO Grant by the foundation’s Honorary Advisory Committee of internationally recognized curators, artists and art professionals. All proceeds from the sale od the art displayed in the space will benefit the artists contributing to this effort as well as CIFO’s endowment fund, which was created to ensure the perpetuity and continuity of the foundation’s mission and accompanying programs. The artists currently featured at ONE CIFO include Emilia Azcarte, Amalia Caputo, Eugenio Espinoza and Glexis Novoa.
On Thursday, January 12th esteemed guests from both the real estate industry and the art world gathered at the space, located at 119 Washington Avenue, for the grand opening celebration. Guests were able to browse the exhibition while enjoying cocktails and bites as well as meet the founders of the project. Miami Beach Commissioner Michael Gongora was present to proclaimed January 12th as the official “ONE CIFO Project Day in Miami Beach.” The exhibition is open daily from 10am-6pm for visitors. For more information on the project contact info@cifo.org or 305-455-3380.
This month marks three remarkable years since the founding of One Sotheby’s Realty. Since it began in 2008, in the midst of the real estate crisis, the company has made innovative strides that have now placed it as the area’s leading luxury residential real estate leader, which is constantly surpassing the expectations of both clients and the community. Its third year in business has been the most successful yet, with over $1 billion in closed residential sales, an increase of $650 million over last year.
In just three short years One Sotheby’s has added over 250 top producing agents that focus on all parts of South Florida with expertise to serve a network of elite clientele. The company has also been able to leverage its presence with state of the art offices in Coral Gables, Miami Beach, Key Biscayne, Aventura and Fort Lauderdale, a strong media presence as well as social media initiatives. “Our strength and knowledge in marketing, our corporate brand identity with Sotheby’s International Realty and our luxury residential listings give us a competitive edge in the real estate arena and have allowed us to close this year out with a great success story, “ says company President Beth Butler.
Fueled by international buyers, the Miami market has recovered faster than any other part of the country, making the outlook for the next three years very optimistic. While we wait for what’s to come, here’s a look at some of the highlights from the past three years:

Global Networking Event
In October over 1000 Sotheby’s Realty agents flocked to Miami for the annual Global Networking event, that was three days of real estate networking and conferences. One Sotheby’s took the opportunity to showcase their innovative marketing strategies and President Beth Butler spoke on the Top Ten Technology tips for realtors.
These accomplishments would not be possible without the vision and efforts of One Sotheby’s executive as well as the agents and supporting staff. We look forward to staying in the for front of South Florida’s real estate industry for many years to come.
This year Art Miami returned for its 22nd year with one of its most spectacular exhibit of over 100 galleries and international art, located in Miami’s Midtown area. Partnering as Art Miami’s only real estate sponsor, One Sotheby’s was in on an action packed week that included a live #MiamiRealEChat on Twitter and a VIP cocktail reception during the fair.
The fair kicked off on Nov. 29th and ran through Dec. 4th with thousands of international visitors passing through, which included artists, art collectors, VIPs and celebrities (Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas made their rounds). One Sotheby’s showcased exclusive properties, as well as the ultra luxury pre-construction development Bellini Williams Island, at a very chic lounge at Art Miami, where guests enjoyed refreshments and snacks.
On Wednesday, Nov. 30th the social media real estate gurus, @Miamijorge and @JanieC to name a few, gathered at the fair to tweet live during the #Miamirealechat. They posted photos of the art works, and shared their experiences to followers in other cities. If you haven’t heard of the #MiamiRealEChat, it’s a monthly Twitter conversation that anyone interested in real estate can join to discuss what’s going on in the market. The next chat will be in January, stay tuned for more info.
Another highlight of One Sotheby’s at Art Miami was the VIP cocktail reception on Dec. 1st, where agents and special guests celebrated with cocktails and had the opportunity to browse the vibrant Asian Art Exhibit in the special Mandarin Oriental section. It was an incredible experience being part of Art Miami, and one thing that we were able to reassure ourselves about was the incredible synergy between art and real estate — they go hand in hand.
We are excited to partner with Cadillac (@GMsoutheast) and Martin Miller’s Gin (@MartinMillerGin) to present the Fort Lauderdale Open House Real Estate Crawl this Saturday, Nov. 12nd! For this event we are inviting a group of social media savvy guests to join us for a tour of Fort Lauderdale’s most exclusive luxury properties, all the while driving the new 2012 Cadillac vehicles.
The caravan starts at Ed Morse Bayview Cadillac where everyone will climb aboard and start the ride. From there we will head to three different stops that will all offer a unique and fun experience that guests can Tweet about and share with their Facebook friends. After the three stops we will head back to the dealership where the GM Southeast Team (@GmSoutheast) will have gifts for the Best and funniest Tweets of the day!

The Global Networking Event, hosted by Sotheby’s International Realty, took place at the Fontainbleau in Miami Beach from October 24- 27. Agents from affiliate offices in 38 countries attended the conference where speakers included Sotheby’s Realty executives, Aron Ralston, the survivor who inspired the movie 127 hours and Chris Smith, co-founder of Tech Savvy Agent, among others.
The Global Networking Event kicked off with a welcome cocktail at The Residences at the W South Beach, hosted by One Sotheby’s. Guests sipped on champagne, light bites and took tours of the uber luxury model units on the property. From Beverly Hills to Buenos Aires, it was a night of networking among the agents that together represented the best luxury real estate company on the globe!
There were many special appearances by our team on panels, which included president Beth Butler and Camila Valverde, who spoke on different topics regarding technology, productivity and agent services. Our social media gurus, Janie Coffey, Jorge Fernandez and Seth Feuer led the #SIRTechNet cocktail tweet-up at the Bleau Bar, where they gathered a group of agents eager to discuss social media trends over cocktails. One of the most important highlights of the event was the launch of Sotheby’s International Realty’s official YouTube Channel. Here users will be able to find videos of the most exclusive homes anywhere in the world. To watch the videos, click here: Sotheby’s International Realty You Tube Channel
Over the Global Networking Event was a complete success and we are already looking forward to next year!

On Thursday Sept. 22 the ONE Sotheby’s Team attended the South Florida Business Journal’s Entrepreneurship Awards ceremony at Gulfstream Park for an exciting evening surrounded by over 400 industry leaders and influential business owners and attendees from across the area.
The awards ceremony honored the spirit and passion of entrepreneurs through several categories, which included ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ that was awarded to our founder and principal, Mayi de la Vega. In accepting the award she said she owed her success to her father, “a Cuban refugee who has survived cancer three times.” Our firm was also recognized with the ‘Service of the Year Award’, thanks to our dedicated and hardworking team of agents and staff.
The South Florida Business Journal has also named as one of South Florida’s 25 most Influential Business Women at a luncheon in Fort Lauderdale. We are so proud to have someone as accomplished as Mayi at the forefront of One Sotheby’s!
